Fabulous but frightening : Group B

     In anul 1982, prin relaxarea regulilor FIA cu privire la Campionatul Mondial de Raliuri, s-a nascut poate cea mai frumoasa perioada din istoria WRC-ului : Grupa B. Cu totii ne amintim de bestiile 4×4, cu motor turbo care aruncau pe tevile de evacuare flacari mai mari decat masina lui Batman. Din pacate, producatorii au investit prea mult in performanta si prea putin in siguranta. Tocmai de aceea, in anul 1986, oficialii au hotarat ca Grupa B a ajuns prea departe si trebuie desfiintata. Aceasta decizie a venit imediat dupa moartea echipajului Henri Toivonen – Sergio Cresto, in Raliul Corsicii, pe 2 mai 1986 (cu exact un an inainte, un alt pilot isi gasea sfarsitul intr-o masina de Grupa B : Attilio Bettega).
